Brembo launches new line of discs and pads for electric cars

Brembo

International. Brembo announced that it received an award at the Motortec Innovation Gallery for its Beyond EV Kit. The new range, completely dedicated to electric vehicles, consists of discs with special coating and brake pads, which enhance the brand's aftermarket offer for electric cars.

Brembo's latest solutions have been specifically designed to combine low environmental impact with the best possible performance and safety, thanks to the innovative materials and modern technologies used during the development process.

The Brembo Beyond EV Kit includes a new range of EV discs and pads custom-made from the most popular electric cars on the market. The new components are quieter and more resistant to oxidation and therefore more durable, all advantages that contribute to greater sustainability. A double protection treatment helps prevent corrosion of the entire kit, as well as giving shine and attractive aesthetics to the discs. It also has a special friction material without copper and with galvanized support plate that reduces dust and noise on the road during braking.

Safety and durability have been central elements when designing this new brake solution. Electric cars use regenerative braking, in addition to traditional dissipative braking, reducing the use of friction brakes. Over time, this can cause rust to form on unused components, reducing the safety of the brake system and increasing maintenance costs. Brembo's goal was to create a brake kit that was quiet and corrosion resistant, and minimized residual resistance. Brembo's latest range of EV pads and discs meets these requirements, translating many of the technological innovations, materials and treatments introduced by the company to the OE market.

Brembo clarified that the Beyond EV Kit will be available in the EMEA and APAC markets from May 2022 and then in the rest of the world. These kit-specific solutions will include coated discs and a special copper-free friction material, with galvanized support plates.
