International. Automechanika Frankfurt 2024 closed successfully after five days, more than 108,000 visitors from 172 countries and 4,200 exhibitors from 80 countries, where Aftermarket International was present to learn about all the incidents of the event.

This year, the show focused on the main trends that are redefining the future of the automobile: electrification, connectivity, driver assistance systems and digitalization. Visitors were able to explore these advances in a 320,000-square-meter space, with 26 levels of pavilions, as well as try out new technologies in the outdoor exhibition area.

Electrification and sustainability were the main themes. More than 650 companies showcased their expertise in electric vehicles, while Chinese manufacturers such as BYD, GEELY, and AVATR showcased their innovative electric models in Hall 12.1, seeking to establish new international partnerships.

One of the great attractions of the event was the 'Future Mobility Park', where attendees had the opportunity to test electric and hybrid vehicles, including an e-van that broke a world record by climbing the world's highest volcano, completely powered by solar energy. Visitors not only took a close look at the technologies of the future, but were also able to take test drives.

The support programme was one of the most comprehensive in Automechanika's history, with five scenarios dedicated to analysing crucial topics such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, alternative propulsion technologies, the circular economy and the lack of qualified personnel in the sector. They highlighted the practical workshops and panel discussions that attracted thousands of professionals from the sector.

This year, the show also paid special attention to Generation Z, with the 'Ambition' area, designed to attract young people interested in automotive professions. Dynamic presentations and live acts managed to capture their attention in an effort to address the growing shortage of skilled labor in the industry.

Michael Johannes, Vice President Mobility and Logistics at Messe Frankfurt, commented: "Never before has Automechanika Frankfurt had a support programme and a range of events like this. Our list of presentations and hands-on workshops covered a wide range of topics, including bodywork and paint, electric vehicles, commercial vehicles, caravan repair, 3D printing, detailing, and much more. These were very well received by professionals, and students and alumni took advantage of the opportunities available to learn first-hand about some of the automotive professions and trades. One of the novelties this year was a program and an area dedicated especially to Generation Z. We wanted to draw their attention to the career opportunities available in the fascinating world of the automotive industry, and we were very successful."

The automotive industry demonstrated its capacity for innovation with a record number of entries for this year's Innovation Awards, which included categories such as E-Mobility, Innovative Propulsion Technologies, Workshop Solutions, and Commercial Vehicles.
