Solarever installs first electric car assembly plant in Mexico

Mexico. The Chinese group Solarever announced the installation of its first electric vehicle assembly plant in Mexico, which will be located in Durango, with an investment of 222,352 dollars.

The company did not reveal the exact location of the complex, but confirmed that the infrastructure will be built in late February or early March to conclude this year.

Daniel Romo, head of Business Intelligence at Directorio Automotriz, commented that the size of the industrial plant will be medium compared to other automakers in Mexico, with a capacity of between 10 and 60,000 units per year.

"We are on a mission to move from traditional energy to clean energy, which is why in the Solarever group we have businesses in solar cells, electric vehicles, battery manufacturing and chargers. The investment of the factory in Durango will not only be of quality and technology, we will manufacture competitive and accessible cars for all Mexicans," said Simón Zhao, president and CEO of the company.

Esteban Villegas Villareal, governor of Durango, explained that the main interest of the Chinese conglomerate is the state's workforce and the talent of public and private universities.

In this sense, they will establish agreements with universities in the state, as well as with the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) to facilitate exchanges with other countries such as China and the United States, offering better opportunities to young people.

Finally, the governor announced the possibility of establishing 20 investment projects in 2024, which will be announced in the coming days.
