Mexico. With an investment of 19 million dollars (million dollars) and the generation of 150 jobs, the third expansion of Suminoe, a textile company for the automotive industry, was inaugurated in the Castro Del Río Industrial Technology Park, in Irapuato, Guanajuato.
The objective of this plant is to strengthen the network of textile suppliers for the auto parts sector and the generation of jobs in the region. The plant is estimated to start operations in the first quarter of 2024 and will be dedicated to the production of floor mats, carpets and synthetic leather for Honda, Mazda, Nissan, among others.
The head of the Secretariat of Sustainable Economic Development (SDES), Ramón Alfaro Gómez, stressed that this expansion is the result of the governor's investment attraction tour to the Asian country in June of this year, "which comes to confine confidence in Guanajuato."
It should be noted that Suminoe Textile was founded in 1883 and is engaged in the manufacture of interior textiles (carpets, curtains, wallpaper, flooring materials, etc.), functional materials (electric carpet, products related to deodorants, materials for aircraft interiors, etc.) and interior design materials for vehicles and automobiles.
The automotive sector has been served since 1931, delivering carpet and seat upholstery to Ford and General Motors produced in Japan.
On behalf of the municipal president of Irapuato, Lorena del Carmen Alfaro García, the secretary of the city council Rodolfo Gómez Cervantes attended, as well as the president of Suminoe Japan, Teppei Nagata, the CEO Kazuaki Suwa, Hiroko Toyama, regional director of the Bajío of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mexico and general secretary of the Union of Workers of the Automotive Industry and Auto Parts, Víctor Manuel Jasso.
