Mexico. O'Reilly Automotive has expanded its brand presence by changing the name of its stores in Mexico to O'Reilly Autopartes.
The company, which trades on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol ORLY, made its first international foray after acquiring Mayasa Auto Parts in late 2019. Since then, O'Reilly has expanded to more than 60 stores throughout Mexico, all previously operating under the ORMA brand.
The transition culminated on Dec. 9 with stores in eight Mexican states unveiling the new lineups and celebrating grand openings.
"It's fitting that we chose early December to officially announce the name change," said Greg Johnson, O'Reilly's chief executive.
He noted the importance of the moment as it coincides with the 66th anniversary of O'Reilly's first store in Springfield, Missouri.
Johnson emphasized the company's commitment to the founding family's values: hard work, honesty, and exceptional customer service, which must be upheld at all locations, including those in Mexico.
It was recognized that the Orendain family, who started their business in 1954, shared O'Reilly's core principles, making the merger a seamless transition. A new distribution center opened in Guadalajara in July to support the growing presence and maintain the wide availability of products in the country.
"We are very proud of our past, as it is what brought us here, but we are even more excited about our future, as we have very ambitious plans," said Enrique Orendain, vice president of sales and operations for O'Reilly in Mexico.
With the expansion, O'Reilly Auto Parts is also looking to bolster its team at its corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri.
