International. Continental announced the appointment of Karin Dohm as the future Chief Financial Officer of the automotive area, effective April 1, 2025.
Dohm, currently CFO of the Hornbach Group, will assume high-level responsibilities in finance, controlling, investor relations, IT, and mergers and acquisitions, among other critical areas. His appointment adds to the leadership of Philipp von Hirschheydt, CEO designate of the future independent automotive group, consolidating a team focused on sustainable growth and value for investors.
"With the appointment of Karin Dohm, we have reached a crucial milestone in our transition to independence. His financial experience and reputation among investors and analysts will be key to this new chapter for Continental," said Philipp von Hirschheydt.
For his part, Dohm highlighted the opportunity: "Being part of this project and bringing such a solid technology company to the stock market is a unique challenge. I am excited to work with Philipp to position Automotive as an independent leader in the sector."
This appointment succeeds Claudia Holtkemper, who will step down on May 1, 2025 to take on new roles within Continental. During his tenure, Holtkemper played a pivotal role in improving the profitability of the automotive business and preparing it for its capital markets debut.
The final spin-off of the automotive area will be submitted to shareholders for approval at the General Meeting of Continental AG, scheduled for April 25, 2025. With nearly 96,000 employees and annual sales of 20.3 billion euros in 2023, Continental's automotive sector is positioned as a key player in innovative solutions for software-defined and autonomous vehicles, excelling in sensors, displays and advanced assistance systems.
With this move, Continental underlines its commitment to technological innovation and strategic growth while moving towards its independence as a global market leader.
