Survey Reveals Automotive Technicians Are Looking for More Data-Driven Tools

International. Anyline's AI-powered mobile data capture technology helps meet industry challenges and meets the needs of technicians.

Anyline, a global company specializing in AI-powered mobile data capture, highlights the growing importance of technology in addressing the major challenges facing the tire and automotive services industry.

The company presented the results of a recent survey of automotive technicians during a press conference at the Automotive Market Specialty Equipment Association (SEMA) event in Las Vegas. The survey sheds new light on technicians' perceptions of advanced technologies and how they can streamline operations and improve the customer experience.

According to the Anyline survey, 70% of technicians believe that at least half of their daily tasks depend on some form of technology, and the majority (68%) are comfortable using advanced digital diagnostic tools. In addition, 60% expressed interest in a new Anyline platform that allows you to measure the tread depth of tires using a smartphone. On the other hand, 87% of respondents say that the use of digital data and analytics strengthens customer confidence and improves customer satisfaction.

"The survey confirms a growing enthusiasm among technicians for the role of technology in the future of automotive service," said Chris Garcia, head of Anyline's U.S. automotive division. "We are excited to contribute to this technological revolution with our mobile data capture platforms, which increase operational efficiency and eliminate errors in data entry. Digitalization allows technicians to service more vehicles per day, reducing wait times and improving the customer experience."

Anyline's technology addresses industry challenges and meets the needs of technicians

The growing adoption of technology solutions comes at a time when the industry is facing a marked shortage of skilled technicians. Almost half of respondents (46%) identify this understaffing as the main challenge of the next decade. In light of this, automotive service shops are turning to digital diagnostic platforms to optimize efficiency and allow their technicians to attend to more vehicles per day.

"Anyline's vehicle and tire scanning technology helps address the industry's labor challenges and technician needs," Garcia added. "Shops that implement digital platforms for vehicle and tire inspection are in a better position to attract and retain qualified technicians. These tools eliminate the need for manual data entry, streamline operations, and allow technicians to spend more time on the tasks they enjoy most."

Today, 57% of technicians still manually record tire information in sales and customer relationship management (CRM) systems. Nearly three-quarters (72%) of respondents say manual data entry is too time-consuming.

Anyline's AI-powered tread depth scanning platform integrates with existing vehicle and point-of-sale digital inspection systems. This tool immediately transforms captured data into actionable insights, streamlining operations and reducing human error. In addition, it allows tread depth to be measured from any smartphone or mobile device, helping technicians quickly detect dangerous wear and improve driver safety.
