United States. Tenneco has expanded its Monroe OE Solutions passive valve portfolio with the introduction of an advanced, highly adjustable stroke-dependent damping (SDD) add-on valve.
The new Monroe RideRefine SDD valve works in tandem with Monroe OE Solutions' core valve technologies to deliver best-in-class control and comfort features.
Stroke-dependent damping dramatically improves comfort by reducing damping levels during short strokes of the unit's internal piston. A bypass directs oil to the RideRefine SDD valve, which provides independent, adjustable small-stroke damping to reduce noise, vibration and harshness. At the end of the short stroke of the piston, the main valve of the shock absorber resumes normal operation.
The adjustability of the new SDD valve allows vehicle manufacturers to select the ideal comfort profile for short piston strokes in each vehicle model.
"The RideRefine SDD valve brings new levels of versatility, adjustability and comfort to passive shock performance," said Romain Nollet, group vice president and general manager of Monroe Ride Solutions.
"Race-dependent damping helps ensure that the shock absorbers effectively filter out minor road impacts on highways and other smooth roads, thus providing a luxurious and smooth feel to the driving experience," he added.
