Mexico. With an investment of 17 million dollars, Magna began the expansion works of the lighting division of its plant in Querétaro, Mexico.
The industrial hall will add 50,292 meters for the manufacture of lighting technology, such as taillights and sconces for various automakers worldwide.
Production in the expansion area is expected to start in 2024 and more than 280 jobs will be generated over the next four years.
"Lighting is a growing segment within the mobility industry, playing a critical role in both vehicle safety and design and aligns with our forward-thinking business strategy," said Jeff Hunt, president of Magna Mechatronics, Mirrors & Lighting.
In this way, Magna brings its total employee base to approximately 800 and the production area grows to more than 103,600 meters.
