Mexico. The Mexican government confirmed that the US company Tesla, of tycoon Elon Musk, will install an electric car factory in the city of Monterrey.
According to the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López, this Monday the agreement was sealed after a telephone conversation between the president and Musk himself.
"I inform the people of Mexico that I spoke with Mr. Elon Musk twice, by videoconference, on Friday night from Chetumal (Quintana Roo) and yesterday morning. He was very receptive, understanding our concerns and accepting our proposals that will be made known," said the Mexican president.
The company's director pledged to consider the water scarcity problems facing the state of Nuevo Leon, whose capital is Monterrey.
"This is going to mean considerable investment and many jobs," Lopez Obrador said.
