eBay promotes exports of auto parts from Mexico

Exportaciones

Latin America. According to the e-commerce company, the category of auto parts and accessories had an increase of 30% during 2021 in the emerging markets region, among which is Mexico.

The company eBay, a pioneer in internet sales since 1995, has its sights set for the first time on a specific sector in Mexico: that of auto parts and accessories. Therefore, it launched a program in order to support sellers interested in exporting this type of goods among the 142 million buyers throughout 190 countries in which the platform operates.

The initiative is aimed at those who sell as retailers and have at least 50 different items for sale belonging to that category. They must fill out the form indicated on the eBay website.

Selected companies will receive training and advice on the development of their export business, a free subscription to an online store for three months and free access to the platform's automated ad service.

"The category of auto parts and accessories has had great growth in various markets thanks to buyers from all over the world who have found the spare parts they need on our platform," says the director of Marketing and Communications of eBay in Mexico, Raúl Bustamante.

According to the executive, the countries to which The Mexican auto parts companies that are already on the eBay platform export the most are the United States, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom. Bustamante indicates that companies that begin to export within the platform reach on average two new markets in the first year and up to five in the second.

The main export market from Mexico is the United States, where the price of new cars grew 12%, due to the very high demand that exceeds the available supply, while the price of used cars increased by 40%.

This situation has moved Americans to purchase auto parts to repair existing cars. "A trend that Mexican sellers can take advantage of," says Bustamente.

For her part, the general director for Emerging Markets at eBay, Jenny Hui, stressed that "we have a great offer of sellers that offer a wide selection of parts and models, and through this support program we seek to enrich that inventory and help Mexican businesses in the segment to reach more buyers globally."

eBay noted that the best-selling accessories by Mexicans on its platform are consoles and console parts, gear levers, exterior moldings, switches and controls, as well as motors and engine parts.

At the same time, the main best-selling brands in this market are Standard Motor Products, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Toyota and Volswagen.
