How New Wiper Motors Solve Quality Problems

Motores de limpiabrisas

Latin America. Waiglobal explains how replacing wiper motors can be a daunting task when working under the hood or on the rear door panel of modern vehicles. The typical vehicle now has two of these engines with the increase in SUV registrations and rear window wiper systems. The sand and dirt that attract the rear window cause failures that require engine replacement.

The amount of labor involved in these replacements and those found under the hood should only result in one job, not two. Replacement engine quality is paramount, as it is in many replacements in modern vehicles. No technician wants to do the job twice because of the poor quality of a replacement unit.

The complexity built into current wiper motors includes rain sensors, pulse boards, and more communication with the vehicle's computer control units. That complexity is something that requires the manufacturer to understand how remote mechanisms, such as a wiper motor, communicate with the ECM.

The keys to getting good replacements should surround the manufacturer's expertise and ability to understand the dynamics of pulse cards and other control methods within the motor. Matching the original equipment design and the functionality it requires is critical to avoiding failures and having to perform the replacement twice.

Wiper motors will continue to become more complex and the original equipment design is being moved towards two units on the windshield to eliminate the connection as additional points of failure.

So the future of replacements looks like it could be dealing with an average of three units per vehicle. More replacement opportunities and more complexity in design mean that this product category will continue to grow and will be a source of revenue for distributors and installers. Choosing the right product replacement will make it a profitable category for many years to come.
