Colombia. A trade mission seeks to position 22 companies in the supply chains and explore business opportunities in Querétaro.
With the aim of strengthening their presence in the international market, 22 Bogota companies from the automotive sector participated in a trade mission in Querétaro, Mexico, from January 28 to 31. The initiative, led by the District Secretariat of Economic Development of Bogotá and Analdex, seeks to connect these companies with business opportunities and strengthen their insertion in global value chains.
The delegation includes companies specializing in auto parts, software, upholstery, batteries and lubricants, among other products, which will have the opportunity to learn first-hand about the development model of the Querétaro aerospace cluster. In addition, the agenda included strategic meetings with key actors in the productive ecosystem and visits to the Aeronautical University of Querétaro.
Growth and opportunities in exports
Colombian auto parts exports reached 305 million dollars between January and November 2024, a figure similar to that of the same period in 2023, according to DIAN data analyzed by Analdex. The United States, Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela and Peru consolidated themselves as the main destinations, with Mexico standing out for a 142.4% growth in purchases of Colombian auto parts, going from 15.4 million dollars in 2023 to 37.4 million dollars in 2024.
"The Colombian auto parts and aerospace sector has made significant progress in innovation and technology to attract international customers. Missions like this are key to knowing the needs of the market and replicating successful models such as Mexico's," said Javier Díaz Molina, executive president of Analdex.
For her part, the District Secretary of Economic Development, María del Pilar López Uribe, stressed that this type of strategy has been fundamental to consolidate the presence of Bogota companies in global value chains.
"In addition to exploring commercial opportunities, this mission will allow companies to learn about the aerospace cluster model and generate strategic connections with potential business partners," he explained.
The most exporting companies in the sector include Clarios Andina, Goodyear de Colombia and Batteries Willard, while Bogotá, Valle del Cauca, Atlántico, Cundinamarca, Antioquia, Bolívar, Santander and Caldas consolidated their position as the leading regions in foreign sales.
With this mission, Bogota seeks to position itself as a key player in the automotive and aerospace industry, exploring new markets and consolidating its presence in the region's supply chains.
