Europe. TecAlliance, a company specialising in data and process management for the automotive aftermarket, is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary.
Since its establishment in 1994, the TecDoc standard has played a key role in collecting, publishing and distributing accurate product information in the automotive aftermarket.
In the early 1990s, inconsistent automotive parts data and incorrect assignment to vehicle types created uncertainty, negatively impacting business and customer satisfaction. To address this problem, 21 companies from the automotive aftermarket industry came together in 1994 to form the TecDoc standardization initiative. This initiative unequivocally clarified each type of vehicle and its corresponding spare parts, establishing a standard that has become the international standard in the sector.
The automotive sector is undergoing rapid evolution driven by new forms of mobility, digitalization and alternative types of propulsion. With the increasing complexity in vehicle configuration and the need to launch products more quickly, real-time data processing has become an inescapable necessity for the independent aftermarket.
In response to these demands, TecAlliance has started implementing the new TecDoc ecosystem at the end of 2023. This system allows parts manufacturers to manage their catalog information in near real-time, leaving behind quarterly or monthly updates. In addition, since 2021, TecAlliance has been collaborating with the manufacturing and distribution sector on the continuous optimization of catalog data as part of a data quality improvement initiative.
In the future, TecDoc solutions will offer additional value-added services. TecDoc is actively developing the TecDoc Trade Portal, a B2B e-commerce platform designed for parts manufacturers and distributors, with the aim of speeding up and optimizing this channel.
