Audi to Implement Cerence Chat Pro to Power Its In-Car Assistant

United States. Cerence Inc. Audi announced that Audi, part of the Volkswagen Group, will leverage Cerence's generative AI to expand the capabilities of its in-car assistant.

With the dual goal of creating added value for cars already on the road and improving on-board assistance capabilities for the future, Audi will first implement Cerence Chat Pro in Audi vehicles equipped with the MIB 3 infotainment platform, starting with the 2021 model year through the activation of the backend, as well as in the next models.

In addition, Cerence Chat Pro will be integrated as part of Audi's on-board assistant, expanding its capabilities within HCP3, the new high-performance computing and infotainment platform that will be deployed in both electric and combustion engine vehicles.

"At Audi, we are deeply committed to advancing the future of the software-defined, AI-powered vehicle, and to delivering a best-in-class in-car user experience," said Marcus Keith, Vice President Interior, Infotainment and Connectivity at Audi.

Cerence Chat Pro is a ChatGPT integration for the automotive industry that allows drivers and passengers to interact with the car assistant in an enjoyable and conversational chat, leveraging a multitude of sources, including ChatGPT, to provide accurate and relevant answers to almost every query imaginable.

"We are proud to continue our collaboration with Audi and the Volkswagen Group to extend the reach of our generative AI-based solutions to an even greater number of drivers," said Christian Mentz, Chief Revenue Officer at Cerence. "Cerence Chat Pro will enhance Audi's on-board assistant with an unmatched level of intelligence, improving safety, comfort and productivity on the road."
