Mexico. According to national media such as the newspaper Reforma, the Tesla plant in Nuevo León could delay the start of its operation until 2027, and not in 2025 as initially planned.
The outlet reported that some suppliers and other companies could delay their plans for operations at Tesla's Nuevo Leon factory due to delays in the plant's construction.
"For two months they told us to wait for the delivery of auto parts to Nuevo León," the supplier told the Mexican newspaper.
According to this, the delay in the delivery of the Tesla plant is due to negative results in environmental impact studies for the land where it will be built.
In the negotiation for Tesla to come to Mexico, it transpired that a fundamental problem, to be solved immediately, was the water supply. Nuevo León suffered a severe drought, so the Tesla plant committed to using only treated water.
The announcement of the construction of the Tesla plant in Mexico caused a furor. "We are excited to announce that we will build a gigafactory in Mexico," Elon Musk, director of Telsa, said last April, during his Investor Day.
The investment of the plant in Mexico will be 5,000 million dollars with the purpose of assembling the new generation of electric cars.
