Mexico. The German multinational Schaeffler announced an investment of 19 million euros for the construction of a new Innovation Center in Huejotzingo, Puebla, as part of the celebration of its 50 years of operations in Mexico.
The new facility, of 9,375 square meters, will be a strategic hub for the development of technologies focused on electric and hybrid mobility, and will have four key areas: Research and Development, Testing, Special Machinery and Tool Workshop.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, held on February 24, the company highlighted that the center will house 420 professionals specialized in software engineering, simulation, testing, validation, and electrical and mechanical disciplines.
"This new center not only strengthens our presence in Mexico, but also positions the region as a key node in our global innovation network," said Gabriel Rivera, president of Schaeffler Latin America.
Since its arrival in the country in 1975, Schaeffler has consolidated its operation with eight plants and around 7,500 employees. In that time, it has generated more than 360 inventions and obtained 90 patents, consolidating its role as a technological benchmark in the automotive and industrial industry.
The investment also includes technical training programs and development of local talent, with training in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, eco-design, leadership and sustainable mobility. In addition, international exchanges and internships will be offered as part of its strategy to foster innovation from the grassroots.
"The Innovation Center in Huejotzingo will strengthen the links between Latin America and our global R+D centers, moving towards a more sustainable future in mobility," said Claudio Castro, head of R+D for the region.
With this investment, Schaeffler reaffirms its commitment to the country, betting on innovation, sustainability and the creation of highly qualified jobs.
