Mexico. Tremec, a subsidiary of KUO, has announced the acquisition of a supplier of plug-and-play electric vehicle conversion systems, Electric GT.
The acquisition will enable Tremec to strengthen its product offering in the growing ICE-to-BEV vehicle conversion segment.
The new company, Tremec – Electric GT, will be headquartered at Electric GT's headquarters in Huntington Beach, CA, and will report directly to Tremec's leadership with access to Tremec's global resources.
Globally, an increasing number of independent builders and installers are converting traditional ICE powertrains into electric power in classic and late-model vehicles and specialized commercial applications.
Tremec adds that customers are looking for higher performance, while others want an environmentally friendly solution to extend the life of their classic vehicles.
The company says the Tremec – Electric GT system solution provides the customer with all the components needed for conversion, including batteries, wiring, drive motors, inverters, gearboxes and the control systems needed to install and operate the system safely and effectively.
"Tremec's extensive experience in OEM and aftermarket engine technology makes it the optimal choice to help the Electric GT reach its full potential," said Alejandro de la Barreda, CEO of KUO.
Tremec now brings complete powertrain system solutions for electric vehicles to this market, with designs that deliver electric power and performance in an attractive appearance.
"eCrate" solutions are designed to provide an alternative to traditional ICE engine changes.
Tremec is developing solutions for electric propulsion units (EDUs) for the OEM, special vehicle and aftermarket segments.
Tremec EDU provides advanced motor and inverter technology combined with Tremec's 60 years of experience in gearbox design and manufacturing.
