United States. MEMA issued a statement in support of the Federal Communications Commission's decision to grant an exemption from Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) rules to allow parties to use cellular vehicle-for-all (C-V2X) technology in the upper 5.9 GHz band.
The FCC's decision will help encourage and ensure the deployment and full utilization of the available spectrum for a broader range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and other advanced vehicle safety technologies.
However, the Vehicle Suppliers Association (MEMA) says it continues to urge the FCC to act quickly to adopt final rules to ensure full deployment and utilization of the band.
Vehicle suppliers are instrumental in the ongoing development and deployment of vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P) technologies.
The industry supports a policy framework that provides a comprehensive, strategic, and meaningful overall plan to prepare the U.S. for a technologically advanced transportation future.
