Colombia. The internationalization plan, led by the District Secretariat of Economic Development (SDDE) and the National Association of Foreign Trade (Analdex), has generated commercial expectations of 4.8 million dollars for the automotive sector of the capital.
The initiative included the diagnosis of 150 companies, of which 107 received training in access to international markets, development of business models and marketing for export. In addition, the companies accessed individual mentoring in business intelligence, product strategies, price, channels and customers.
One of the most relevant milestones was the participation of 21 Bogota companies in a business mission in Querétaro, Mexico, the most important automotive hub in the region. During the event, 65 face-to-face business meetings were held with Mexican companies, within the framework of a total of 250 commercial meetings – face-to-face and virtual – between local entrepreneurs and 27 firms from that country.
"This effort shows that Bogota has a business ecosystem with high export potential and the ability to compete in international markets. With this strengthening model, we want to position the city as a key player in the global chain of the automotive industry," said María Piedad Bayter, director of Competitiveness Bogotá Region of the SDDE.
The localities with the highest presence of companies in the automotive sector and the best export performance were Kennedy, Fontibón and Engativá, standing out for their export vocation, product sophistication and financial strength.
This program, part of the SDDE's competitiveness strategy, seeks to strengthen the insertion of more companies in international markets, promoting economic growth and job creation in the city.
