Automechanika Shanghai Celebrates 20 Years with Interactive Events

International. In honor of Automechanika Shanghai's 20th anniversary, the fair will offer unique experiential activities for visitors.

The event will take place from December 2 to 5, and a record 6,500 exhibitors are anticipated in 350,000 m² and 14 pavilions of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). These immersive programs will underscore the industry's commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and best practices.

To reinforce its focus on sustainability, Automechanika Shanghai will launch the innovative "Nature Walk" challenge, which invites attendees to count their steps throughout the four days of the fair, from December 2 to 5. Through a mobile app, participants will be able to record their steps as they walk through the event's 14 pavilions, and at the end, each step will count toward a monetary donation for community reforestation projects. This challenge, which can be done individually or as a team, promotes environmental awareness and is part of Automechanika Shanghai's actions to promote a sustainable future in the automotive industry.

As part of its social commitment, Automechanika Shanghai will open the Customising x Tech area in Hall 8.2 to pay tribute to motorsport culture with the "Search for a Racing Master" competition. This simulated event will allow visitors and exhibitors to compete on virtual tracks, in collaboration with international automobile clubs. For three days, renowned drivers from the Shanghai Volkswagen 333 Racing Team, PEGASUS Racing Team and HIPOSR Racing Team will showcase their skills, fostering a space of connection and camaraderie within the automotive industry.

In addition to the show, attendees will be able to explore the thriving automotive manufacturing hub in the Yangtze River Delta. These tours, which will offer an inside look at key facilities and pioneering research centers in new energy and autonomous driving, will be divided into three routes:

Changzhou, Jiangsu (Dec. 4): The tour includes a tour of a new energy vehicle plant and a battery and charging network company, in a city that exports 10% of the country's electric vehicles and is home to major brands such as BYD, CATL and Li Auto.

Jiading, Shanghai (December 5): Attendees will visit a new energy vehicle manufacturer, a smart manufacturing factory and a LIDAR technology company, in an area that has seen a 35% increase in production of these vehicles and is home to the first closed test center for connected vehicles.

Hefei, Anhui (December 5): On this route, a new energy vehicle manufacturer, a connected vehicle data center with 5G technology and a motor control factory will be explored, in a city that is home to major brands such as NIO and Volkswagen.

These activities, together with other interactive routes within the fair, create unique learning and networking spaces, connecting exhibitors and visitors around the latest trends in the industry.

There will also be a 20th anniversary live broadcast, where the fair will partner with industry and mass media such as Chongqing Broadcasting Group and Jilin China News from December 1 to 3, 2024. They will present the highlights and trends of the exhibition through interviews with experts and interactive booth tours. In addition, the program will be broadcast on the AMS Live digital platform.
