International. Schaeffler announced plans to build more than 5,000 additional charging points for electric vehicles worldwide by 2030, including 3,000 charging points in European locations.
The company said the new charging points are part of Schaeffler's sustainability program. Two German cities, Herzogenaurach and Schweinfurt, will serve as pilot projects for the technology. Following the successful completion of the test phase, the project will be gradually implemented in all other regions of the Schaeffler Group.
"Schaeffler stands for sustainability and is committed to electric mobility," said Andreas Schick, Chief Operating Officer of Schaeffler AG.
Schaeffler said that the expansion plan for the Herzogenaurach location will allow the construction of a further 245 charging points for employees, company vehicles and visitors by 2025. In Schweinfurt, the electrical infrastructure will first be expanded to enable the construction of a further 122 charging points. The initial operation is scheduled for 2025.
"We are pursuing the higher goal of reducing our CO2 emissions on a continuous basis. This includes the carbon footprint for individual mobility. Through this project, we will increase Schaeffler's attractiveness as a sustainable employer and further motivate our workforce to act in an environmentally conscious manner," Andreas added.
