Mexico. The company Aspen Aerogels inaugurated two plants in Apodaca, Nuevo León, for the assembly of electric car batteries with an investment of 270 million dollars.
Through a statement, it was reported that the headquarters will employ 1,000 people and contribute to the positioning of the state as an electromobility hub.
Aspen Aerogels, a company originally from Marlborough, Massachusetts, is a leader in sustainability through the use of aerogel, which enables efficient use of electric vehicle batteries.
They design, develop and manufacture aerogel materials used mainly in markets such as energy, sustainable insulation materials and electric vehicles.
Local Processes
On the first floor, the conversion process of the aerogel rolls will begin, and on the second floor, the assembly of the final product will be completed, which is an encapsulation of the aerogel that they send to their customers, including General Motors, Toyota, Audi, Scania, Stellantis-ACC and Magna.
The two Aspen Aerogels plants, located in the municipality of Apodaca, were driven by its strategic partner Prodensa.
"It has been a pleasure to have the trust of Aspen Aerogels to accompany them in their incursion and growth plans in Mexico," said Marco Kuljacha, president of Prodensa.
The firm participated from the analysis and validation stages to the implementation of the project.
