Latin America. 2022 is forecast to close with 870,000 jobs, representing an increase of 4%. This is the second highest figure in the history of the indicator, after the 886,000 jobs generated in 2018.
The National Auto Parts Industry (INA) announced that the sector will reach a record number in terms of employment and human capital.
The INA estimates that, due to the technological revolution, job creation will continue to increase in the auto parts sector. This association projects a growing demand for qualified personnel in topics such as system and software requirements, functional security, automotive cybersecurity, AUTOSAR and Model V, among others.
To meet the demand for qualified personnel in the auto parts sector, Mexico and the United States require engineers in automotive systems, of which 43% must specialize in electrical systems; 13%, indoors; 12% in automotive train; 12% in vehicle testing; 7 % in bodywork; 6% in chassis; 5% in materials and 4% in exteriors, reports INA.
According to the association, despite the fact that the vacancy rate in the sector is high, four out of ten employers have problems finding qualified human capital in technical areas, so Higher Technical Education is a more profitable investment than even some bachelor's degrees.
Another strategy to address this need is the dual education model, which allows linking theory (30% in technical schools or universities) with practice (70% in companies). This system guarantees the development of the talents required by the industry to strengthen competitiveness.
On the other hand, the forecast of auto parts production for this year is above pre-pandemic levels. In 2019 there was a production value of 97,228 million dollars; it is estimated that at the end of 2022 it will reach US$105,121 million, which represents an increase of 11% compared to 2021.
