International. Automechanika Frankfurt Director Olaf Mußhoff spoke out at the FIA Smart Driving Challenge (SDC) sub-event
The world's leading trade show for the automotive aftermarket identified the smartest driver among its exhibitors and visitors who participated in the FIA SDC sub-event.
Together with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the Swedish artificial intelligence (AI) and insurtech company Greater Than, Automechanika Frankfurt invited participants to join it during May and June, in the run-up to the fair.
On average, participants achieved 9% CO2 savings through their driving during the pre-challenge and challenge, and contributed positively to cleaner roads.
The winning driver, the Alexandre Stricher, achieved an impressive CO2 saving of 33% and received an award during a dedicated ceremony that took place on the penultimate day of Automechanika Frankfurt.
"As an international meeting place for key players in the automotive aftermarket industry, sustainability is high on our agenda," said Olaf Mußhoff.
"Participating in this challenge helped us raise awareness of the importance of a safe and sustainable driving style and enhanced our own network of international events by engaging exhibitors and visitors alike in the months leading up to the event," he said.
The aim of automechanika Frankfurt's FIA SDC sub-event was to help exhibitors and visitors assess their impact on road safety and CO2 emissions when behind the wheel and invite them to adopt intelligent driving in a pleasant way.
Onika Miller, Acting Secretary General for Automotive Mobility and Tourism, said: "Partnering with leading international events such as Automechanika Frankfurt is the perfect opportunity to encourage key industry players to demonstrate the importance of safe and sustainable driving."
"We need to work together and act quickly to improve the environment of our roads, save lives and address climate change," he said.
