Production of the new Mazda CX-50 Crossover SUV for the North American market begins at the new US plant

United States. Mazda Motor Corporation began production of its new Mazda CX-50 crossover SUV, aimed at the North American market, on January 18 at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, USA, Inc., has a new plant built jointly with Toyota Motor Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama. The CX-50 is Mazda's first vehicle manufactured at the plant.

Based on the reforms of the sales network and the supply of products that meet the needs of local customers, in addition to starting production of the CX-50, the company stated that "it has renewed the determination to become a company that North American customers continue to choose."

"Since 2016, Mazda has participated in initiatives to strengthen its sales area in the U.S., Mazda's most important market, according to our Medium-Term Management Plan that covers from the fiscal year ending in March 2020 to the fiscal year ending in March 2026. Efforts include upgrading dealerships to the next generation, introducing sales financing and reforming sales operations."

In addition, the company argued that with the launch of the Mazda CX-50, the lifestyle and needs of North American customers are met through its design that respectfully interacts with the exterior, its strong and highly efficient powertrain in combination with an AWD system installed in all areas, and its high off-road driving stability.

"The CX-50 is a model that serves as a driving force for Mazda's business growth in North America," said Takeshi Mukai, Mazda's senior ceo at the start of production of the CX-50. We would like to see the plant take root in the local community by offering employment opportunities and creating a supply chain in the region. And as good U.S. corporate citizens, we are committed to turning it into a production facility that shares a close connection with the local community."
