The newly released 2025 Auto Care Factbook report shows that the automotive aftermarket industry had a growth rate of 8.6% in 2023, exceeding projections and demonstrating stable and continuous year-over-year growth.

The car care industry exceeded expectations in 2023. Despite challenges such as persistent inflation, the aftermarket demonstrated resilience: total sales of the light vehicle aftermarket in the United States grew by 8.6% in 2023 to reach $392 billion, exceeding projections of 8.1% in the previous year. Light vehicle growth in 2024 is expected to reach a solid 5.9%, and the total light, medium, and heavy-duty auto aftermarket is now expected to be a $617.3 billion industry by 2027.

"As U.S. credit card debt hits an all-time high of more than $17 trillion in 2024, Americans are feeling the brunt of inflation and choosing more savings options when possible, including maintaining their cars," said Bill Hanvey, president and CEO of the Auto Care Association.
